Repeat. You are not alone.

We all need this reminder at times.

This message dawned upon me even more as I finished watching Misaeng, a popular Korean TV Show series about the workplace. (It’s on Netflix!) It’s a series about the daily challenges and joy employees in a corporation go through – regardless of whether you are an intern, a manager or a senior executive.

What intrigued me is how each episode showed a glimpse of how all these people make decisions. What motivates them, discourages them, impacts them, and changes their minds about a philosophy we have in life.

While the storyline shares a deeper insight into Korean work culture, there are also a lot of lessons, trends, and challenges applicable to us in general.

❓How do you work with colleagues who consistently doubt you and undermine you?

❓How do you work under leadership whose words and actions do not align?

❓How do you work with employees who are not asking enough questions when solving problems?

❓How do you work in a company that is not open to new rules and changes?

The truth is, whether as an intern, manager or executive, many of us have asked these questions in our careers. No matter where we work and who we work with, it is not always easy to work with different people with different interests. At times, it is just easy to want to go alone. It feels easier to bear the weight of the challenges alone. And accept that we are alone feeling this way.

But I hope in those moments, we remember that we are not alone.

If you have asked those questions, it’s likely that there’s someone else who has also wondered and is looking to solve the same problem. It is likely that someone else is also wanting to address it. And it is likely that help is near us more than we think.

Today I want to just remind us that you are not alone. Reach out to someone for that help. And pass it forward – be there for someone else too.

Going together, we can go further.

With love,
